Reflexology is a touch therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet and hands correspond with different areas of the body, By stimulating or holding these points, I encourage your body to return to a balanced state. Some clients seek reflexology to aid relaxation and release tension, to improve their mood or aid sleep. Others come for support with specific issues like menopausal symptoms, migraines, or back pain.
In reflexology we always say 'treat the person, not the condition'. This means that when you come for a treatment, I will treat you as you are, on that day. We do not claim to diagnose or cure. However, many of my clients say that they sleep better after a treatment, that they feel a greater sense of wellbeing, and even that they are able to see events and circumstances in their life from a new perspective. Some clients come for support on their menopause journey. Almost everyone says that they feel much more relaxed and rebalanced.
As well as classical reflexology, I use Five Element Reflexology, which in addition to using the reflex points, includes work on the meridians and acupressure points. This brings a deeper approach to your healthcare, taking into account emotional, mental and spiritual factors, as well as physical. This allows us to see your life as a whole, clearing the path to greater wellbeing.
Reflexology is a balancing therapy. Reflex points on the feet and hands correspond with areas of the body. By stimulating or holding these points, I encourage your body to return to a balanced state.
Managing stress in our lives is essential for our health and happiness. Taking time for yourself - stepping out of your world of busyness and obligations, even temporarily, can be the start of finding your natural balance. I help you to do this by providing an environment that is supportive and therapeutic.
We know that reflexology releases tension, helps relaxation, improves mood and sleep and promotes wellbeing. Many of my clients come for regular reflexology sessions because they find it improves or sustains that feeling of wellbeing.
All good massage should be relaxing, because it is through becoming relaxed that you are able to let go of tension and tightness. We often view relaxation as something active – something we have to do, when actually we need to stop doing! Massage can help you to do that. With time, appropriate pressure, focused intention and breath, we remind your body that it knows how to let go.
Massage is available as a 30 or 60 minute session, either as a stand alone appointment, or as part of a combination appointment.
A bespoke treatment just for you, using Neal's Yard Organic oils. A gentle, relaxing session, using appropriate pressure so that you always feel comfortable.
A very popular 30 minute treatment, available as a stand alone appointment or as an add-on to reflexology. I focus on the areas above where so many of us carry our tension. Deeply relaxing and restorative.
We often hold so much tension in our face and head without even realising it. A massage over the face, head and neck, using Neal's Yard Organic facial oils, incorporating gentle pressure points and facial reflexes to relax the face and head, and benefit the whole body.
Please arrive as close to the start time of your appointment as possible, avoid drinking alcohol before your treatment (and afterwards, if possible) and drink plenty of water afterwards. Let me know if you need the room warmer or cooler, if you need extra supports on the table and if you would like a change to the touch pressure.
There are a few conditions that are contra-indications to massage and reflexology. You cannot receive a treatment if you: have acute undiagnosed pain, have a raised body temperature, have an infectious disease, have a DVT or blood clot or are intoxicated with drugs or alcohol. There are certain conditions would necessitate a discussion before you book an appointment, such as: a contagious skin disorder (e.g., athletes’ foot, psoriasis, verrucae, eczema, dermatitis), cellulitis, varicose veins, minor or major surgery (within the last 18 months), recent fractures, sprains or strains, hernia, allergies, sunburn, scar tissue, oedema, abrasions, foot pain, bruising or inflammation. Additionally, reflexology should be avoided if you have any recent foot injuries. If you are concerned about whether you can have a treatment, please feel free to get in touch and have a chat.
It is always difficult to say as each client presents with their own unique symptoms and responds differently to treatment. If you have had a condition for a while, I would suggest six sessions initially, then a review to see how things are going. Many of my clients have on-going sessions to maintain their health and wellbeing.
You may want to try and schedule a quiet day and drink plenty of water in order to experience the full benefits of a treatment. Occasionally, someone may experience a 'healing reaction' as their body rebalances. This may manifest in symptoms like a mild headache or tiredness. Aim to look after yourself and take as much rest as possible and it will pass. If you need to talk to me during this time, you can always contact me.
Appointments are available in my beautiful garden cabin in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, which is easily accessible from Church Stretton, Wellington, Telford, Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Newport and Whitchurch.
I have appointments from Mondays to Thursdays.
Some health issues, such as chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia benefit from more frequent, shorter sessions, so as to avoid over-taxing you. Please contact me for more details.
